Skin Care Tips at Any Age
We have become a society obsessed with our looks.
It is observed that in Western countries we are spending more on cosmetics than on education.
Why are we so obsessed? Because it is easier and more affordable than ever before. Anti-aging skincare technology continues to be a leap. We know more about skin today than ever before. There are advanced skincare products that can erase the years, and of course, the plastic surgeon has perfected his business, making such procedures easier and cheaper than ever before.
Do we justify our obsession?
They say that beauty is just skin deep, and it's also important to do what's right for you when I believe it's true. If you want to keep appearing all day, by all means, this is all you need to do, but I must add that I'm not a fan of going under the knife. With the enormous progress made in skincare products today, I would like to take a less aggressive approach.
Here are some age-related tips and remedies that can help enhance the look of your skin with no needles and knives.
20 something
In your twenties, your skin is at its peak, however, nurture its beauty and always use at least SPF 30 sunscreen. Of course, this should continue at any age.
Avoid oily makeup and cover-ups. Use an oil-free moisturizer every day. This is a great time to start using eye cream under the eye area at night.
Try using green tea products that help reduce the risk of skin cancer.
30 something
When you are in your 30s your skin starts to dry a little and the sun can start to appear. It's time to start using thick moisturizing creams to lock in the excess moisture. Continue eye creams at night and use your sunscreen religiously. Also, skin bleaching products may need to be used to reduce black spots from sun damage.
Tip: Put your moisturizer on damp skin. This helps to lock in more moisture.
40 something
Time to kick it to another level. If your skin loses more rigidity than your forties. It may look dull and your pores can get bigger. Scars, spots, age spots, color changes, and changes in skin color are more visible. Retinoids, anti-oxidants, and alpha-hydroxy acids can improve your skin's appearance and it's a good time for your 40s to start using them. Of course, it is essential that you continue to use a thick moisturizer and eye serum every day.
Home Microdermabrasion Kits are an option to rejuvenate the texture and color of your skin to make skin look and feel smoother.
50 something
Changes in your skin reach higher gear. Menopause helps you lose estrogen, which gives your skin its elasticity and hydrates it, but once estrogen levels are low, you begin to see wrinkles, eyelids, and expression lines around your mouth and forehead.
Start using anti-aging or wrinkle-reducing formulas, such as vitamin A (retinol) or glycolic acid products. Retin A is proven to reduce skin texture, skin tone, and color, as well as fine lines and wrinkles while improving your skin's hydration level.
Glycolic acid stimulates the formation of collagen for fat cells and reduces wrinkles on the skin surface. Postmenopausal women can also use a progesterone-containing cream that improves skin elasticity and firmness.
60 something
By the age of 60, all forms of collagen are significantly below their youth level. There are wonderful hydrating creams that contain alpha-hydroxy acids (glycolic acids), soy, green tea, and retinol (Vitamin A), which will keep your skin dry and vital for ages. Alpha hydroxy acids help reduce droopy skin, and retinol reduces your fine lines.
60 plus
Your skin texture is visibly less soft and you often start to see age stains. You appreciate the early care you have given to your skin because the signs of aging are minimal, however, you can clearly notice the effects of neglect if you do not start early.
While it’s never too late to take care of your skin, it can be difficult to minimize the damage you already have without special medical treatments such as Botox or perhaps surgical procedures. All of the above should continue to apply but it is wise to consult your doctor on advanced treatments.
If you haven't reached the age of 60, the best skincare advice is to follow good skin care at an early age. This is an easy habit to get into and best of all, then you will thank yourself.
