Cheap and Natural Way to Healthy Skin
Healthy skin occurs when we eat good food, exercise enough, reduce stress, and protect our skin from harsh weather conditions. Some foods are especially beneficial for the skin.
Garlic is one of those foods. It contains sulfur compounds that are beneficial for your skin (it smells rather strong). It also acts as a natural antibiotic and purifies the entire system. If you like garlic, eat as much as possible. If the smell worries you, then chew a piece of parsley and it will neutralize it. If all this is tough, there are odorless garlic pills available.
Vitamin C is likely the most essential pores and skin diet in my opinion. Not least because the human body cannot make or store it. This vitamin helps in the formation of collagen, which makes the skin look young and plump. This may cause smokers' skin to look older than non-smokers. Smoking also consumes oxygen in the blood. Skip it or at least cut it off if humanly possible.
Vitamin C is best consumed with bioflavonoids, which are usually found in nature. Both have a synergistic effect. They can be found in citrus fruits, fruits like strawberries, and vegetables such as blueberries and broccoli.
Broccoli also contains Vitamin A, an important vitamin for the skin that helps fight infection from the inside out. Great for those with acne! Take some each day if you can.
Carrots are a good source of carotenoids, such as "beta-carotene," which your body converts into vitamin A. Beta-carotene is absorbed into the skin and shields the sun from harmful UV rays. Carrot also contains "alpha-carotene", which protects against free radical damage. Carrots are a great way to get vitamin A by eliminating excess carotenoids. High Vitamin A is toxic to the body.
Dark leafy green vegetables, especially kale and spinach, are a good source of zinc and iron. Iron makes sure your skin gets enough oxygen and zinc is a good pimple fighter. Eat a little every day if you can, or add some in fresh juice.
Parsley deserves a separate mention because it is rich in nutrients that stimulate all skin. It contains beta carotene, chlorophyll, vitamin B12, folic acid (good skin), vitamin C, and iron. Parsley can be added to juices, and casserole sprinkled on any savory dish or chewed on itself. It’s also great for fresh breath. Parsley is easy to grow, just pop in a pot and place it near the kitchen door.
Olive oil is great for dry skin and wrinkles. Use it for cooking - it contains monounsaturated fats and antioxidants - or slather it on your skin after a bath.
Flax seeds and flax oil (also known as linseed) contain essential omega 3 oils that are not found in many foods. (Fish also has omega-3s). Flaxseed contains fiber and phytoestrogens, which balance the body's hormones and are important for younger skin. Sprinkle a little on your grains or use in soups and stews.
Avocados promote skin (especially dry skin). Although fairly high in fat, it softens the dry skin of a healthy monosaturated type. Avocados contain glutathione, one of the most powerful antioxidants and prevent cell damage in all skin types. They are also high in potassium.
Drink as much water as you can, this will eliminate toxins and help hydrate the skin. If you can't drink eight glasses a day - I can't unless it's 40 degrees - then drink as much as you can without being uncomfortable.
Adequate protein is needed to change and repair the skin. Most of us have a lot of protein in our diet but a lot of fat is attached to it. If you can substitute low-fat ones e.g. Milk, peanut butter, cheese, etc, then do. You still eat the same amount. The thinner the meat the better, fish that contain natural omega 3 oils that are good for your skin and your health are even better.
Include as many fruits and vegetables as possible in your diet and try. This may seem impossible if you are a committed junk food "junkie", but if you handle it in shortcuts (pun intended!)
